Visual Story Hunter
My name is Kim Engvoldsen, born in 1981 and married since 2010.
Since completing my studies at Bilder Nordic in 2016, I have worked across commercial photography, film and visual production. Over time, my focus has shifted increasingly toward documentary work and visual storytelling.
I have never really travelled for a traditional beach holiday. I travel to experience culture, understand places and meet people. I am often drawn to large cities, but some of my strongest travel experiences have come from places such as Kenya and Morocco. Over the years I have travelled across Europe, North Africa, East Africa and the Middle East, and those experiences have shaped the way I look at the world.
In recent years, I have become increasingly drawn to subcultures and places that exist outside the obvious. I have also started looking more literally beneath the surface — into underground spaces, hidden infrastructure and forgotten places — and sometimes in the opposite direction, high above the city where the perspective changes completely.
Working under the name The Story Hunter, I look for stories that are easy to overlook — people, places and environments with something real beneath the surface.
My work combines photography and film with curiosity, exploration and a documentary approach. Whether I am working independently or as part of a larger production, the goal is the same: to find authentic moments and turn them into strong visual stories.
